Bibliteracy’s purpose is to be a platform to help followers of Jesus to become Biblically literate disciples. We achieve this by offering Bible study tools that allow people to see what the Bible teaches for themselves.
We believe first and foremost that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, sent to Earth by God the Father to die for the sins of mankind, and that anyone who places their faith in him is reconciled to the Father and is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. The Three, Jesus, Father, and Holy Spirit, are separate entities united in their divinity and mission, but with different, distinct purposes.
Jesus is the Lamb of God. He was sent to Earth to be the sacrifice for our sins and be the primary example of what Godly living looks like. We as Christians should strive to conduct ourselves in a Christ-like manner in all things. As such, our core values can be found in the example given to us by Christ:
The Father is the all-seeing, all-knowing God of creation. Jesus and the Holy Spirit follow the will of the Father. It was for the sake of reconciling man to the Father that Jesus sacrificed his life on the cross. In his love and out of his grace, it is God’s will that all should be restored to him through faith in his son.
The Holy Spirit carries out the will of the Father. He guides believers in a myriad of ways. He is the advocate; the one sent to the world after Jesus’ ascension to allow us to communicate directly with God. It is because of him that we are able to live Christ-like lives. He empowers believers by giving them spiritual giftings and growing fruit in them. We believe he is no less active today than at any other point in history.
We believe in the authority of scripture. The Bible is the living Word of God, not simply a set of rules to be followed. It gives us a model for our personal lives and a structure for church governance. Although we believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still for all believers today, including prophecy, nothing said by God now will contradict scripture.
